A luxury jewelry ecommerce brand’s online presence had become outdated and overly reliant on customized design elements. The existing design lacked cohesiveness, leading to a poor user experience and a convoluted user flow. With items priced well into the six-figures, a dated, poor experience didn’t build trust or inspire users to engage with the brand. The goal was to elevate the online shopping experience to emulate the luxurious in-store experience. We also set out to create a new design system that would enhance the user experience, ultimately to drastically improve key metrics and propel the brand into a whole new stratosphere online.

We undertook a comprehensive design process that began with a thorough analysis of the existing website and an in-depth understanding of user pain points and its shortcomings. With these insights in mind, we formed core design principles that would guide the entire redesign initiative. There were capabilities they had in person, which they weren’t able to emulate online such as building a custom ring. This was an opportunity to leverage great design with technology to create beautiful visualizers to serve an experience not found even in-store.

Moving into the design phase, we made wireframe prototypes to visualize the core functionality and user experience, especially important for key sections such as the new Ring Builder. We built a design system that inherited much of the brand’s essence, but elevated it to new heights. Using the insights we gathered, we developed a comprehensive set of repeatable components that could be used across the entire website.

This was credit to the elevated and optimized experience. With intuitive user flows, beautiful visualizers such as the Ring Builder and 360 degree products, shoppers began engaging with the brand like never before. The repeatable components meant that our client was able to edit and create beautiful landing pages without the need for new customizations. Key metrics such as conversion rate, average order value, transactions, and revenue eclipsed their past numbers and the online business leveled up to incredibly new territory.
